EVENTS AND PROGRAMSFrom simple contemplative prayer gatherings to joyful, creative events, The Spirituality Network programs are all intended to foster spiritual growth. Some programs are designed as continuing education and professional enrichment for those in caring ministry; others are designed to introduce spiritual practices and still others are offered to introduce or deepen knowledge in spiritual topics. A Spirituality Network Signature Event:Arti Gras! A Celebration of Art and Spirit
The name of this event began with a playful pun on "Mardi Gras" as we envisioned a day to revel in creativity and to discover the freedom of the creative life. Art and creativity can be intimidating to so many of us who worry that we don't have the proper technique or our creations "won't look like anything." Arti Gras! was developed to help people recognize that as human beings, they are creative, they can "do art," and to give them an opportunity for hands-on exploration of creativity. This event offers a wide range of possibilities for exploring the creative elements of the life journey, featuring a menu of mini-workshops (e.g., collage, clay, paint, dance/drama/movement, poetry and writing.) We see this as a grass-roots, hands-on experience open to all. We believe that creativity enriches individuals, communities, and the earth as a whole. When: Saturday, February 13, 2010, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Hosted by: First Community Church, North Campus, 3777 Dublin Rd. Registration Fee: $30 PREPAID by February 5, $40 after; includes all materials and lunch. Preregistration REQUIRED: 614 228-8867. Jung believed that the human psyche has an inherently spiritual function; thus growth and healing cannot occur unless we regain a religious outlook. In this Monday night series we will explore some of the contributions Jungian Psychology has made to the understanding of the human person and how this can assist in the spiritual direction process. Grief, Loss and the Spiritual Journey: Companioning the Bereaved When: Saturday, February 27, 2010 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. For spiritual directors and others in caring professions, this workshop will help expand awareness and understanding of the processes of grief and bereavement. The content will focus on the dynamics of grief in relationship to the spiritual journey and the work of spiritual companions. Healing Energy: The Christian Approach to Reiki When: Saturday, March 20, 2010 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Reiki is an energy balancing technique for pain relief, relaxation, and healing through a gentle laying-on of hands. We will look at what Reiki is, how it is practiced and received and what the healing ministry of Jesus has to tell us about becoming practitioners of health and wholeness.
