EVENTS AND PROGRAMSFrom simple contemplative prayer gatherings to joyful, creative events, The Spirituality Network programs are all intended to foster spiritual growth. Some programs are designed as continuing education and professional enrichment for those in caring ministry; others are designed to introduce spiritual practices and still others are offered to introduce or deepen knowledge in spiritual topics. Sacred FeminineOur cultural heritage gives us images of The Divine that are overwhelmingly masculine. How do women recognize and claim that they, too, are created in God’s likeness? Join us on the second Tuesday of each month as we gather for discussion, reflection, and exploration on a variety of topics that help us to connect to uniquely feminine aspects of The Divine. Our intention is to discover more balance, create more peace, and offer more hope to our world. All events are held at the First Congregational Church, 444 East Broad St. PLEASE RSVP FOR EACH EVENT AT 614/228-8867. Donations accepted (suggested donation: $5). Women Gather in Circles of Solidarity and Hope Barb Davis will facilitate a discussion based on her experiences at the annual Commission on the Status of Women with women from around the world in February 2008. Dr. Jean Shinoda Bolen, author of The Millionth Circle, was the leader of the delegation. We will explore the significance of women’s sharing from the heart and how these connections may foster greater peace and love in our world. Mutuality and Reciprocity: the Art of Giving and Receiving Without Demands Gwyn Stetler will guide us in self and group reflection on the art of giving and receiving without demands. This deeply spiritual practice is a key to creating peace while honoring diversity. Working with Project Women Alive, Interfaith Hospitality Network, Interfaith Open Houses, Quakers, and local community development with Muslim women living in central Ohio, Gwyn has developed her gift of fostering mutuality and reciprocity. She is committed to deepening honest reflexivity and action on social justice issues and promoting multifaith community building. Both Martha and Mary: Radical Hospitality Radical hospitality is a unique combination of both "Martha" and "Mary": comfortable and welcoming space as well as the healing practice of deep listening. Radical Hospitality honors all individuals by seeking deep connections even in spite of differences. Donita Harris, of Community Development for All People, will lead us in an exploration of how to develop our own expression of hospitality as a spiritual practice. 2009 dates: February 10, March 10, April 14, May 12. Details in the Winter issue of our newsletter. Would you like to be on the email list to receive notices of upcoming events? Sign up for the Spirituality Network Google Group and be "in the know." |
