Who should apply for Wellstreams Awakening?
Wellstreams Awakening is open to adults from all faith traditions, or none, who seek a greater spiritual awakening.
What is Wellstreams Awakening for?
Wellstreams Awakening is designed to help you deepen your relationship to Spirit and map your own spiritual path. With intentional discernment throughout the program, it is not necessary to know beforehand how you may put your Awakening learning to use. Some participants eventually become spiritual directors. Others do not. For now, it is only necessary to be open to the mystery and movement of the Spirit.

Will I be able to work as a spiritual director when I finish Wellstreams Awakening?
Wellstreams Awakening is the first of two phases of the full Wellstreams program. The second phase is Wellstreams Immersion. Awakening is a prerequisite for Immersion, and both Awakening and Immersion must be completed to receive a certificate in spiritual direction from Wellstreams.
Can I apply for Wellstreams Awakening if I am not sure I want to complete Wellstreams Immersion or be a spiritual director?
Absolutely. Wellstreams Awakening has been designed both to provide spiritual enrichment as a standalone learning experience, and to prepare participants for Wellstreams Immersion if they discern a calling to train in spiritual direction. Not all who complete Awakening choose to continue on to Immersion. Awakening concludes with a module that helps participants thoughtfully discern their next steps, whether that is Immersion or something else.
What are the qualifications and prerequisites for Wellstreams Awakening?
There are no specific qualifications or prerequisites. However, an ability to reflect deeply on your own life experience and articulate your relationship to faith and spirituality will be an asset on your Wellstreams journey.
Experience receiving spiritual direction may help shape your expectations for the program. If you would like to connect with a spiritual director before you apply, we offer a local directory and referral service.
If accepted, participants are required to be in spiritual direction for the duration of the program, meeting with their director every 4 to 6 weeks.
What is the application process?
To apply for Wellstreams Awakening, you will submit:
Education and employment history
Contact details for three relevant references, who will be asked by Wellstreams to write letters of recommendation
Brief written essays including:
A statement of purpose
A history of your spiritual journey
A reflection on your alignment with the mission and vision of the Spirituality Network
$75 non-refundable application fee
After applications are reviewed, candidates are interviewed by Wellstreams faculty.
I. Wellstreams Awakening
The first phase of the Wellstreams program is open to anyone seeking spiritual awakening in community. Students will be invited to live a more contemplative life, discover greater freedom to bring more compassion to the world, nurture healthier relationships with the divine, others, and the world, based on a holistic view of self, enhance skills for empathetic listening, discernment, and community building, and deepen expressions of spirituality.
II. Wellstreams Immersion
The second phase of Wellstreams provides practical experience in preparation for offering spiritual companionship, with continued discernment and learning. Students will be trained to provide spiritual direction individually and in groups, offer retreat leadership and small group formation, and enhance skills and presence in caring professions.
Completion of Awakening is a prerequisite for Immersion.
What does Wellstreams Awakening cost?
If you are accepted into Wellstreams Awakening, you will choose from three tuition levels:
Sponsor Level: $2,800
We ask that you select this level if you have the privilege of economic security. Paying at this level not only covers your own tuition, it also makes it possible for us to offer Wellstreams Awakening to those who may not otherwise be able to participate.

This standard rate fully funds the Wellstreams Awakening experience for you as an individual.Scholarship Level: $1,800
We never want cost to be a barrier to your participation. Select this level if you would not otherwise be able to participate in Wellstreams Awakening.
Participants are encouraged to look for funding from local congregations and/or organizations that might benefit from your training.
