for spiritual growth and depth,
The Spirituality Network connects people with resources
The Spirituality Network connects people with resources for spiritual growth and depth,
regardless of faith tradition — through education and training, spiritual direction for individuals and groups, and community programs and events. Ecumenical and interfaith, the Spirituality Network honors diversity and does not proselytize.
A prayerful, confidential process that provides companionship in deepening relationship with the Divine.
Gifted facilitators for retreats and days of reflection for individuals, groups and organizations.
Discernment and education for those who feel called to the practice of spiritual direction, through a combination of academic, experiential, and practical learning while connecting in deep community.
The Spirituality Network was founded in the late 1970s by Sister Noreen of the Dominican Order. As she traveled to and throughout the twenty-three counties of the Catholic Diocese of Columbus as a representative of the Vocations Office, and later as Vicar for the Religious, she encountered the same questions and needs in the people she met and worked with. She came to call it the thirst. Each person said it differently, but they were all asking for the same thing: a place where they could find support, where they could feel safe, a place where they could believe and trust, where they wouldn’t feel that they were on the fringe of acceptance.
In time, Sister Noreen began to collaborate with a small group of dreamers—five Dominican sisters, a married couple, and a Dominican Priest. Together they established the three pillars that the Spirituality Network would be founded upon:
Supplement what the churches cannot do.
Be itinerant, go out and meet the people where they are.
Offer spiritual opportunities—such as spiritual direction and retreats—for people on spiritual journeys but for whom this kind of companioning is not available.
The Spirituality Network was built on these pillars, by this small group of dreamers who lived out their calling. Their work grew and, in 1985, we officially registered as a nonprofit. For the last forty years, we have worked with the community in and around Central Ohio to provide a variety of programs that support our many fellow travelers on their spiritual journeys.
If you are a traveler on your own journey and you are seeking companions or support along the way, you will find rest, encouragement, safety, and nourishment here.
